Clearly the majority of people are either strongly for or strongly against the art/graphics style change in ts4. But I feel like, if you liked ts2, play that. If you liked ts3, play that. If ts4 comes out and you're still not satisfied, wait for the fifth installment. There is no way for ea to meet everybody's desires for the game. At least they're trying. I'm just fucking happy there's a 4th installment coming out to a game that I've loved for years. P.s. You look like a Disney prince. ;)

In all honesty, I love the direction TS4 has taken as to how the Sims look. TS3 was getting dangerously close to the uncanny valley, and while it was relatively to make your sims look good, a certain amount of aesthetic appeal was lost in TS3, I think. Sure, 4 is more cartoony but it looks sleeker and more attractive in my eyes because it obviously isn't trying so hard to be creepily lifelike. I love the Sims 4 style!

I like TS2 better than TS3 (while TS3 had arguably better character customization, TS2 didn't lag as much and had more interesting gameplay) and it's looking like I still might like TS2 better than TS4. TS4 seems cool so far and I kind of like the new art style but I was hoping on them leaving in the good features from TS3 while including the good features from TS2 but it looks like they're taking away most of the good features from both of them.

I understand, but we honestly know very, very little about TS4 thus far. One couldn’t possibly make a claim about TS4’s features…we just don’t know enough about the game to judge it yet.

Thank you for posting all this info on sims 4, it is giving me more and more reasons not to buy that pathetic mess of a game. Taking away creativity options on top of looking so cartoony is just stupid on EA's part.

I personally love the cartoony look (it reminds me of TS1 and TS2!) but I agree that EA is…not such a great company. lol

wait so there will be no CAST or custom hair colours?what are we supposed to do? that's such a huge part of the game. how are we meant to customize our furniture etc... ahh...

You say it’s a huge part of the game, but it wasn’t in the first or second generation of The Sims. It isn’t worth the game being buggy, slow, and unstable to have custom hair colors, in my opinion.

Are there going to smartphones in the base game? because in one pic a sim in red T-shirt is taking a photo with others using his smart phone. So I wanted to know if they would appear.

Definitely. They are in The Sims 3, so we can definitely count on them in TS4.

The alpha software photos look awesome! It looks like there will be a ton of realism to the game, as far as animations and AI and everything.

EA Whitewashes SimGuru_FR's post too.

Yesterday’s deletion of SimGuruSarah’s tweets wasn’t the only whitewashing going on it seems. The post last month by SimGuru_FR was quietly edited two days later. It removes any mention of “The Sims 4 team is completely mismanaged” layoff debacle (which his post was in response to), along with the mention of The Sims 4 postponement, and the promise of more news in a few weeks.

What does any of that means? We don’t know because EA couldn’t be bothered to tell us. The original post and the edited version (for comparison) are available under the fold.

This is becoming quite the habit for EA. Here’s a list of some posts (I’m sure there’s more that I don’t know about) that were changed or are no longer available:

The Sims 4 Team is Completely Mismanaged —Jace Wallace’s twitter account deleted.

New Sims 4 news coming in a “few weeks” —SimGuru_FR’s post edited.

The Sims 4 September 2014 — Lucy Bradshaw’s blog post edited; date changed from September to Autumn.

Just how much of The Sims 4 is going to be online anyway? —Tweet no longer available; Brian Bell’s twitter account changed to private.

Sim Guru Sarah Holding acknowledges our frustration and promises news soon. — Tweets deleted.

Nobody likes sneaky behavior, EA. If you need to correct or delete misinformation — especially information that’s already been disseminated — don’t delete it and pretend it never happened! Make a correction and let people know about it. Anything else is really unacceptable. FFS.

This is our job as fans. We have to keep track of this stuff and hold them accountable for their actions. EA is such a mess…

I've accepted the fact that we won't be getting any new info. I'm pretty sure that when they decide to release anything news worthy they will hype it up some time before. So I'm just gonna wait 'till they tell us to get excited.

They're not going to wait until Gamescom to release more information, Gamescom is less than a month before it's expected release date. More than likely the most information we'll get about the game will be at E3 in June, Then just hype talk at Gamescom.

I used Gamescom as an example of a press event. I’m not saying that we should wait unit the next Gamescom. I just mean that we have to wait for an actual press event for news, and we shouldn’t expect to get any at an event that just shows off the technology and coding in TS4.

Who would buy the game with no information on it, til its relase?

It’s the next-generation game in The Sims franchise…it would have to be PRETTY terrible for me to not end up buying it eventually. Many players feel this way and decide to purchase it ahead of time. I haven’t preordered yet, but it is inevitable that I will buy the game eventually. We will get information closer to release, we just have to be patient. It sucks, I know.

I wouldn't expect news at GDC

It was rumored that TS4 would take center stage at the 2014 Game Developer’s Conference, and that we would get a trailer and/or a release date for the game. However, it appears that The Sims 4 will only be appearing in two AI talks to industry professionals. They will be exploring the technical aspects of the game, nothing that would be of interest to fans.

Therefore, it is highly unlikely that any info will be revealed at the Game Developer’s Conference. GDC is, again, for industry professionals…they would only reveal a trailer and release date at a press event like Gamescom.

We might get bits of information, but we already know about AI, emotions and multi-tasking, which the two TS4 events will be covering.

GDC started today. The concurent interactions session is the 19th and the 21st is the multi-actor behavior sequencing session.

I love the new art style for the sims 4 but people have every right to dislike it. One thing that annoys me though is how they say the graphics suck, the graphics are better, it's the art style that they think sucks. There's a huge difference between art style and graphics. The developers made the art style the way it is for a reason, it's not the product of laziness or bad technology. They are simplifying the art style for better game play and the quality of the game play should be paramount.
