People are pissed that the sims are cartoony in 4, but it makes sense. They can't go more realistic without the tools being impossible and the system requirements being crazy high, along with delaying the release date and raising the price. But if they stayed the same graphics as 3, obviously people would be so much more pissed, and they also eliminated pudding faces with this. What more do you guys expect?

I love the concept, not the execution. But still, we haven’t seen a whole lot yet. Maybe it looks better in person?

Sep 29, 201315 notes
Have they mentioned if this will be available for the Mac? I want to pre-order but I don't own a PC.

They haven’t yet, but it will be. But we can’t pre-order yet unfortunately.

hair physics could actually cause a fair number of problems running the game. it would slow it down noticeably.

They had it in TS2…let’s look at TS2 system requirements, shall we?

  • 800 MHz processor
  • 128 MB RAM if Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows 2000
  • 32 MB 3D accelerated video card (NVIDIA GeForce2/ATI Radeon VE/Intel Extreme Graphics or better)

I think they could do it ;)

Personally I really like how the sims look so far for TS4. I absolutely hated most everything about TS3, especially the sims themselves, except for traits. And ultimately how the sims look isn't going to be a big deal within a few months of release with all the CC that I'm sure will be out there. The only major disappointment for me so far is the lack of hair movement, but I imagine there's still time for them to add it if people raise enough of a stink.

They definitely won’t add it. You guys like to keep giving Maxis and EA the benefit of the doubt, but they don’t deserve it! The game is like 99% complete. The game actually does not change as much as everyone thinks it does from pre-alpha to final release.

To me, The Sims 4 is turning out to be the XBox One of The Sims franchise.

*Snap*

Sep 29, 201320 notes
I don't like how the new sims look at all. The graphics of their physical appearance would be something id see on a phone or a handheld console. Not a computer or a Mac. I liked how in TS3 they managed to make them more realistic but still have their.. Idk, simple-ness? I'm not sure if ill be buying ts4. I remember being ECSTATIC when sims 3 came out and then there were so many new features I was a bit overwhelmed. I don't see ts4 bringing in new, exciting features.

I agree!

Simmers are getting restless?

honeywellsims4news:

Over at SimsVIP the reaction to the lighthearted blog post on office pranks Ray Mazza, Creative Director at Maxis, posted took an unexpected turn.  While some people took the article the way it was intended quite a few fans seemed to be upset by the fun and games taking place when their own games are broken.

Ray had this to say about the unfair - I think - criticism:

Ray Mazzasays:

September 29, 2013 at 1:50 am

Hi Perry,

I understand where you’re coming from. But you have to understand that everyone at Maxis works incredibly hard on The Sims games — many long days, late nights, and weekends. We aren’t forced to. We work hard because we want The Sims games to be as great as we can make them in the time that we have. Sometimes on those late nights, we need to blow off some steam. When we spent time foiling that office, for example, it was a few of us taking a break from work around 9pm. When we were done, we went back to working on The Sims 2 base game. It keeps us happy, and trust me, you want happy people working on The Sims! Thanks for understanding, Perry, and thanks for playing.

Best,
Ray

But the real problem was summed up by dru:

drusays: September 28, 2013 at 11:19 pm

I’m gonna say it again. EA has a huge PR nightmare on their hands, so much that even a post like this one gets people riled. It gives the impression they are jacking around and not working on the games…but I do get blowing off steam. I still laugh that the first thing I thought of when seeing this is basicly what EatChees said in his post. I had so much love for the sims..so much…I enjoyed it and still do..but sims 3 wore me down. Sims 4 is leaving me sad. Just the news we are getting isnt making me go WOW. I remember getting so jazzed when a new sims game was coming out. I hate seeing this happen, Really do.

What do you think?

At first I thought that this was an unreasonable expectation for EA; obviously, they can relax and have fun once in a while. But then I saw the second comment, and I feel that it is completely valid. Just the fact that this offended people shows that EA has a massive problem. TS3 did wear me down, and TS4 has been underwhelming, in my opinion. They smartened up a lot of the features, like CAS and Build/Buy, but there still isn’t gradual aging. Or hair growth/movement. Or CAST. Or many other features that we would expect from a next-generation game. In a lot of ways, TS4 seems to be a step BACK for the franchise. The Sims just aren’t appealing…they are ugly (again, just my opinion), and though they have “emotion”, they still seem like cartoon robots. That was all off-topic…but the point is this: EA needs to get its shit together. For real.

What do you guys think? Send in your opinions!

The Sims 4: Simified’s Q&A With SimGuruGrant

thesims4blogger:

During SimsCamp, I was given the opportunity to get all of the questions sent in by you, the readers, answered. I sat down withSimGuruGrant between all of the hustle and bustle and the awesome demos of The Sims 4 to get the questions answered. Below are the questions in no particular order and his responses based on how I remember him answering them. I only summarized what he said; I didn’t write his responses in full, so that I could save time. Thank you so much to SimGuruGrant for sitting down with me to get all of these answered!

Simified: What are the Life Stages in The Sims 4? Are there any new ones?
SimGuruGrant: The Sims 4 will have all of the same life stages as previous games, Baby, Toddler, Child, Teen, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder. There are no new life stages coming at this time.

Simified: Will there be Seasons or any kind of weather in The Sims 4 base game?
Grant: With The Sims 4 base game we are focusing on gameplay and Sims themselves to make it a great experience. Weather is something we’d like to have in the base game, but right now, with The Sims 4, weather and seasons will not be present in the base game.

Simified: Will there be an online store, like The Sims 3 Store, in The Sims 4?
Grant: The game is still in a pre-alpha state and we have not reached this point in development so I cannot comment on this.

Simified: Will Sims be able to have and own cars? Will cars in The Sims 4 have functions similar to The Sims 2 (opening doors, etc.) or will they be like The Sims 3?
Grant: Sims will definitely be able to own and have cars! As far as how they will function, I cannot comment on that yet. I do know that opening doors, like in The Sims 2, would require a lot from our animations team, so this may or may not happen.

Simified: Will it be possible to build more than 5 floors?
Grant: This question is actually for SimGuruHouts since he’s Build Mode, but I can say the team is always working on developing the game to make it the best it possibly can be. (SimGuruHouts mentioned during his Build Mode demo that currently, in The Sims 4, it’s 3 floors and a roof but they are working and hoping to make that higher.)

Simified: Will there be curved walls? Is it true we will we be able to adjust wall heights?
Grant: There will be adjustable wall heights! It’s something new we’re doing and you may noticed it in the arrival trailer. We may or may not be able to offer curved walls, but we are adding in curved fences. Curved fences are new too and we’re hoping players will like them.

Simified: Will there be rabbit holes? If so which buildings?
Grant: Right now we are only focusing on Create a Sim, Emotions, Animations, and Build Mode so I cannot discuss world features at this time. We will be covering the world and you’ll learn more about that soon.

Simified: Will there be a tool like Create-A-Style in Build Mode?
Grant: Create a Style is something that we know the fans want back and it’s definitely on the table for consideration. It’s not implemented currently and I can’t say for sure if it will be or not at this time.

Simified: What will the neighborhoods be like and will we be able to create our own?
Grant: This is another one of those things that we’re not quite ready to talk about yet so I cannot comment.

Simified: What will aging be like in The Sims 4? Will it be gradual or in stages?
Grant: Aging will be in the normal stages of Baby, Toddler, Child, Teen, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder, and will work in the same way as in previous The Sims’ games.

Simified: Will custom content be supported?
Grant: Of course! We love to see what the community can add with their creativity.

Simified: What online features will there be? Will there be an Exchange for sharing creations?
Grant: While we aren’t that far in development in terms of how it will work, I can definitely say there will be ways to share your creations from The Sims 4 just like in previous games.

Simified: What are some of the new major features for The Sims 4?
Grant: One of the big main features is emotions. Your Sims now have these great emotions that add more feeling behind the things they do. You’ll notice this very easily through how their facial expression is or by how they’re carrying themselves. By having these emotions it builds the connection with the player. Not only do we have emotions but multitasking too. So you’ll see your Sim carrying a conversation while sitting down to eat, pausing to take a drink, and resuming the conversation and eating. It will be very natural and adds more realism. We also have some great new skills and careers too that we think players will love as well as returning skills and careers.

Simified: Are there any new skills in The Sims 4? Any returning skills?
Grant: There will be some new skills with The Sims 4 such as bartending but also some familiar returning skills too, such as gardening, writing, cooking and painting. Cleaning is also there but it’s not a skill, like in The Sims 3.

Simified: How are Sims’ personalities different from The Sims 3?
Grant: With The Sims 4 we’re bringing back aspirations. Aspirations were goals and things for your Sims to achieve, life Lifetime Rewards in The Sims 3. Personality traits will also change your Sims’ personality too, altering things they like or dislike. You’ll be able to create Sims with unique personalities and aspirations.

Simified: In The Sims 4, we’re getting body sculpting features. How will the game deal with our Sims losing and gaining weight, becoming more or less muscular?
Grant: So the game dealing with weight loss and muscle loss based on your Sims habits. If your Sim eats healthy and exercises, they’ll lose weight and tend to be more muscular. If your Sim chooses to eat unhealthy, like always munching on pizza, not really exercising, your Sim will tend to gain weight and be less muscular. It’s all about the choices your Sim makes and you as the player will make. Sims will not react to their weight however.

Simified: Will we be able to easily make split-levels in The Sims 4? Will we be able to make split-levels at all?
Grant: This is another great question for SimGuruHouts and his Build Mode demo. I can say the team is definitely looking at giving builders many great tools they’ve been asking for though, just can’t comment on what each of those are. (During SimGuruHouts Build Mode demo, there was no split-level tool, but it is something the team is considering and may or may not have in the final game.)

Simified: How many worlds/neighborhoods will there be in the base game?
Grant: I cannot comment on this as the game is still very early development so we have not finalized details. We will be covering the world and you’ll learn more about that soon.

Simified: You say that objects and clothing will be able to affect your Sims’ moods. Can you go into any more depth on this?
Grant: Clothing in The Sims 4, will use the buffs system (called moodlets in The Sims 3) and they will act as tags on the clothing to give your Sims’ different mood changes to help improve their mood. While clothing won’t fully alter how your Sim feels, it will help towards changing their mood.

Simified: Are babies going to have moving limbs just as back in The Sims 2?
Grant: No comment on this as we are not ready to talk about younger Sims yet.

Simified: Also will babies have more interactions and be able to be held by their children siblings?
Grant: No comment on this as we are not ready to talk about younger Sims yet.

Simified: Can we have baby showers and other parties?
Grant: With The Sims 4 there will be this great new goal based events system that will allow for various types of events. Can’t say if baby showers are included with this, but your Sim could setup parties such as a “Singles Event which would gather all single Sims in the neighborhood. Careers will also use this new events system too, so if your Sim is a Chef for example, Chef’s will have special event dinners to attend where that helps relationship with their boss as well as job performance.

Simified: Will we have a community center type venue where Sims can take classes?
Grant: This is a good idea! I cannot comment on what the neighborhoods will contain yet.

Simified: Will the hair detail and texture in The Sims 4 be improved? Will we see moving hair?
Grant: With The Sims 4, we have a brand new art style, as you have noticed. This new art style does reflect the direction we are going with The Sims 4 however, the game is still in pre-alpha stages so textures on hair you may have seen in Create a Sim or on Sims may be tweaked or improved. As far as moving hair goes, that would require a lot of animations work and would actually affect game performance. We would also need to add more physics into the game just to support the movement of hair. We know this is something people do want, but we just don’t have the resources available to make it happen with The Sims 4.

Simified: Will there still be sliders in Create A Sim, to be used in conjunction with the new method of dragging their actual faces?
Grant: The only sliders we have in Create a Sim are for weight and muscle definition. The new powerful tools of clicking and sculpting your Sims actually, behind the scenes, are using sliders that all work together to create that seamless and clay molding like movement. But no, no sliders for sculpting your Sims as we think new way of creating Sims will be much easier and less overwhelming for players.

Simified: Will there be a return of cut-scenes in The Sims 4 for important moments in the Sims’ lives?
Grant: There are no cut-scenes in The Sims 4 at the moment, but there could be. Not saying yes or no.

Simified: What are some of the ways that we will grow more attached to our Sims?
Grant: With the emotions your Sims will feel, they will definitely be more life-like. All of the emotions and animations all tie in together to give you that emotional attachment to your Sims, even more than before.

Simified: How does multitasking work on the interactions queue that we are used to?
Grant: Multitasking works much in the same way as normal interactions, except your Sims will automatically decide if they can multitask many of the situations they’re faced with. If they can multitask, they will. If they can’t, they won’t. (For more on how multitasking works see our The Sims 4 Animations Preview.)

Simified: How are emotions conveyed in The Sims 4? Will there be moodlets or will they only be conveyed through the animations of our Sims?
Grant: Emotions will be conveyed both on the UI for the  game, through how your Sim moves (though not all of the time) and through their facial expressions. You will also see the top moodlets that influenced how your Sim is feeling right with their current emotion.

Simified: Are the classic need bars still present?
Grant: The classic need bars will be present. We have not gotten to the UI design part so everything seen is not final yet, but they will be there. The need bars will be the same, no Environment or Comfort need bars though.

TONS of new info here! Aging, neighborhood, party types, and more!

Don't you think when they pee it should be yellow , for TS4 ?

They did green vomit in TS3, so I think yellow pee would be a healthy, natural progression.

Can I just say- the base game for sims always start off at around $60 with extension packs starting at $40? Anyone who is outraged about the cost of Sims 4 obviously hasn't bought the sims base game during the initial release year. I spent 60 to get sims 2 in 2004. I spent 60 to get sims 3 in 2009. and omg they're going make me spend 60 to get sims 4 in 2014!!

It’s true.

Sep 22, 201324 notes
The price really is ridiculous. EA prices keep going up but the quality of what they're selling is staying the same, and they expect us not to notice.

I’d be alright with the price if there was no Sims Store. That just pushes it over the edge for me. I simply cannot justify paying real money for virtual items. But if I don’t, my game is empty. If I’m paying $60 for a game, I want it to have tons of hair, clothing, and furniture options. I agree, but there is really nothing we can do about it. EA continues to push DLC because it is extremely effective.

Sep 22, 201318 notes
I feel like there's been a lot of disappoint with TS4 so far. CASt does not seem to be in TS4's future, no height sliders, no hair movement, weird hair, only 3 levels of house so far.. And not to mention that it's $60 or $70 right now without seasons already implemented in the game or any other expansion it seems. Hopefully EA and Maxis will get this together and at least give us some of what simmers want. The whole catalog furniture thing seems kinda strange so far too....

I just responded to a similar comment, but I would like to say that we have barely seen the game yet. I have no problem with hating EA or being disappointed in a game, but I just can’t do that without knowing anything about TS4. We know the basics, but we know nothing about the town, aging, and many other big features. I will wait, and I will judge the game when we have a good idea of what it will be like. I do agree that $60 for a base game is annoying, but this is the standard price for a video game nowadays. I’d say, just relax.

I'm really unimpressed by what we've heard and seen for Sims 4. I don't like that weather won't be included, that height isn't adjustable, that hair doesn't move. It feels like, once again, loads of what we want is not being included, and the game is incredibly expensive - so those of us who have been fans since the first and had all the EPs and already spent several hundreds of pounds of this game, will be charged again and have to keep paying again. I won't be bothering.

Then again, was it realistic to expect weather and height adjustment in a base game? Weather is always saved for an expansion, and Sims with varying heights would require an infinite number of animations…it just isn’t technically feasible.

I don’t think that this is anything new or unexpected. The business model for all games in The Sims franchise has been the same. Obviously TS4 is not going to have everything that TS3 has, just like TS3 base game didn’t have everything that TS2 had.

Any idea on whether Sim families from previous games, like the Goths, or the Landgraabs will make an appearance?

Not yet. It was hinted that Bella Goth will be in the game, but that’s it so far.

There is an EA article that clearly says Hair WILL grow and also wind will make the hair move. Just wanted to let you know

There was a translation issue between EA and the publication. Most of the info on that list is incorrect.

Sep 22, 201311 notes
are you serious the sims4 hair wont move when we've been asking for like ever to make sims hair moveable, you have to be joking right

Unfortunately, hair in TS4 will not move.

Sep 22, 20134 notes
Do you have any idea on what the life stages are? Like child, teen, things like that.

No one knows yet, but I’ll report it as soon as it is announced/leaked!

Sep 22, 20132 notes
I am actually disappointed that they didn't add any hair movement or hair growth in the game.

Me too, especially because there was hair movement in TS2, a game released almost 10 years ago.

Sep 21, 201319 notes
What ?? They took that feature away after saying it would be there??

Apparently it never was there. It was a bad translation. :/

Sep 21, 20137 notes
In the Sims 4 there actually is beard and hair growth! :D

It has been confirmed that hair will not grow or move in TS4.

Sep 21, 201315 notes
You posted that the sims 4 "will not have gradual aging". What do you mean by that? Do the sims still age?

There will be age groups, as before. Sims won’t gradually grow older, as opposed to jumping from age 30 to 60.

“Let me interject for a moment to shut down the Diablo 3 Auction House nonsense right now.”—

— Graham Nardone

Graham corrects yet another misinformed article in this thread at Mod The Sims.

This time it was the article, Maxis developing in-game platform for The Sims 4 content sharing, from Video Gamer where they speculate EA may have plans for a Diablo 3 style auction house where players could possibly sell user created content.

That’s an extremely misleading article filled with conjecture by the author. Look at the actual quotes; Ryan never said anything about Diablo 3 and never said anything about players selling content. What he has said is that sharing content between players is an important part of what we’re building, to which end we’re working on bringing the exchange functionality from Sims 3 directly in-game rather than requiring it to go through a website outside of the game. What we’re not answering yet is questions about how that functions, and the author seems to be using that as a platform to speculate on what we will do.

He goes on to say later in the thread:

If it’s an area of the game we’re not ready to discuss yet we won’t confirm things one way or another. Confirming information by definitively answering any question thrown at us defeats the purpose of not talking about it in the first place. That’s just standard PR really. I find it odd how the author obfuscated the point to make it sound like Ryan did answer. When we’re ready to reveal more about exchange type functionality in Sims 4 we’ll definitely open up about it!

Thanks for clearing that up, Graham.  The direct communication with the community is welcome and appreciated by most.  It’s effective PR too!

Do you think there will be alot of hair and clothes in sims 4? As well as do you think they would have more urban clothing? instead of crap from 2000 lol? Because the clothes I've seen so far is so basic and the hair, its like 4/10, they've got the right idea with the style, but the detail in it is bleh!

I hope. The Sims has always suffered, in my opinion, from out-of-date and unfashionable clothing and hair options.

Question on the master info list, on the weight part. Will they notice the weight gain/loss and become upset/happy with it or just notice the weight gain/loss but not react emotionally to it? i hope that made sense LOL

They will notice that they’ve gained weight, but they won’t become depressed or angry about it.

The Sims 4 Master Info Compilation by Sims4News

Here is absolutely EVERYTHING we know about TS4 so far!

  • Aging- The Sims 4 will have all of the same life stages as previous games, Baby, Toddler, Child, Teen, Young Adult, Adult, and Elder. There are no new life stages.
  • Multitasking- Sims can eat and talk, exercise and watch TV…nearly any feasible combination of interactions.
  • Needs/Motives- No more motive bars. Each need is either green, yellow or red (requires immediate attention).
  • Group Controls- Sims can form groups of up to six Sims. Groups can perform group interactions. Sims don’t have to all be standing or doing the same thing in a group. Sims will turn their heads and their upper body during conversations.
  • Emotional States- Within each of the emotional states – including happy, sad, inspired and depressed, among others – are a range of nuances that will unlock contextual actions. Sad Sims might be inspired to paint something depressing, while angry Sims might have extra drive when working out! Mood influences Sim behavior and animation as well- the way the Sim gets out of bed, walks, talks, and interacts with other Sims are all affected by mood. There will be 15 emotional states in the base game.
    • Angry – Enraged – Furious
    • Bored
    • Confident
    • Cranky
    • Dazed
    • Embarassed
    • Energized
    • Flirty – Passionate
    • Focused
    • Happy – Elated
    • Inspired
    • Neutral (Default)
    • Playful
    • Romantic
    • Sad – Depressed
    • Stressed
  • Emotionally Triggered Abilities- Sad Sims do poorly at work, unless they are writers. Flirty Sims can dim the lights by clapping their hands. Emotions are like temporary traits. Emotions can be triggered by dreams!
  • Create-A-Sim- Like molding clay, but not as messy. Jewelry is completely free from clothing. Body shape is genetic. Clothing can be unlocked by completing certain tasks and achievements. For everything else, click here to watch a demo of the new CAS!
  • Buy Mode- Furniture can be purchased through an Ikea-like catalogue, offering a range of items that directly influence how a Sim feels within the environment. You can drag and drop an entire room set and it will adjust to the size of the room dynamically. Furniture can be unlocked by completing certain tasks and achievements.
  • Build Mode- Just as in the new CAS, you will be able to place a room and drag it around and shape it easily. The new “blocksâ€? system allows for extreme flexibility. You just plop down rooms and pull them apart and shape them as you please. You don’t need to plan a house beforehand; more flexible, and requires less time and patience. You can adjust the pitch, curvature and overhand of roofs! Still no curved walls. Automatic window tool.
  • Furniture Influence on Mood- An inspirational painting could boost the creativity of a Sim, while a room decorated with many romantic objects will make Sims feel “flirtyâ€?. However, just one romantic candle will not dramatically affect the mood of a Sim…it is more about the overall tone of the room.
  • Relationship System- Instead of one relationship bar that slowly increases from friendship to romance, TS4 now has two concurrent bars- romance and friendship. It will be much easier to stay friends with a Sim without delving into romantic territory. This also opens up the possibility for “soul matesâ€?, or two Sims that have maxed out friendship and romance bars!
  • Aspiration System- Sims can have an unlimited number of Aspirations, which feature intermediate goals along the way and wide-reaching progression branches. Once a Sim completes an Aspiration, they’ll get the corresponding Aspiration Trait that goes along with it. A Sim that becomes a master chef, for example, will get a cooking-based Aspiration Trait.â€?
  • Whims- A short-term goal for your Sim (The Sims 2: Wants – The Sims 3: Wishes). Grants Aspiration Points.
  • Traits- Some new, some old. Five trait slots and one for primary aspiration. Traits can be unlocked by completing certain tasks and achievements. The only confirmed traits so far are mopey, hot-headed and peppy!
  • Active Careers- The core game system allows for events where players can go out and play through certain parts of their Sim’s career. Again, you’ll be interacting with other Sims as well to move up the career ladder.
  • Vibrant Neighborhoods– Chose among brilliant and diverse lots for your Sims to live in. Vivid visuals bring your Sim’s home to life. The new neighborhood looks a lot like the Southern US, but more stylized and charming.
  • Memories- Sims will remember past outfits, relationships and experiences. These memories will have a significant effect on their behavior and mood.
  • Sound Design- The game has over half a million sound files, and the sound system has gotten a technical overhaul. Sound now has direction; a Sim with his back facing the camera will sound a little muffled when he speaks. Music and sound will even be different depending on the shape of the room. Basically, TS4 has acoustics.
  • Animation- Sims no longer pause in-between animations or look like robots when sitting in a chair. Everything is fluid and natural. Subtle but effective. Sims can perform most interactions standing or sitting (you can sit on a bed and eat).
  • Path System- Sims in crowded spaces will maneuver around each other. Sims can pass each other on stairs. A hundred Sims can pass each other without a single one getting stuck. Similarly, a hundred Sims can all walk through a single doorway at once without anyone being stuck, stamping their foot, or canceling the interaction.
  • Skill System- Skills are split into three categories: Focus (logic, cooking), Inspiration (painting, writing), and Energize (athletic). Around 10 skills in base game. Some skills are piano, guitar, violin, gardening (which is much more complex in TS4), social, writing, painting, dating, and exercise.
  • Sim Health- Sims naturally change over time. Eat too much and/or never exercise, you’ll get fat. Eat healthy food and work out, you’ll lose weight and/or maintain health. Sims will notice gaining/losing weight.
  • Events- For example, a Sim can host a singles event, and invite all the single Sims in the neighbourhood to a party. Or as a chef, a Sim can attend a special event dinner.
  • Special Objects- Cowplant, rocket ship, voodoo doll, cupcake maker, cars, painting easel, punching bag, and more!

Features that are NOT in the game:

  • Going to work with Sims
  • Create-A-Style-Tool
  • Height customization
  • Hair growth and animation

I think it would be AWESOME if Sims in sims 4 had more personality as in, maybe not the sims you control as much, but like sims in your town could do whatever the heck they wanted and have a lot of personality, you know? Like your sim ins dating someone from the town, and suddenly they decide to dump you or something or they propose to you without your sim having to make all the decisions. I think it would add so much more realism and make the game much more interesting to play!

That would be awesome! I definitely hope that Sims are more autonomous and random.

I've never ever played the Sims with CC before. Always just used the EPs to get new content. Is it something worth looking into and getting despite what it does to your game?

Absolutely! I have a mod that decreases the time it takes for children and teens to do homework in TS3. These kinds of mods only change one number in the game code, so they are compatible with all expansions, stuff packs, and CC, and have absolutely no effect on game performance. You just have to experiment and make sure you follow the directions and have no conflicting mods.

I tend to stay away from mods that alter the appearance of Sims, because they usually look creepy/fake/out of place. But you are welcome to try those out as well!

The best website for Sims modding is modthesims…I’ve been using them since TS2!

what do you think will become of pregnancy in the sims 4?? i swear if we can't change our maternity clothes, I'll freak

I agree! Or at the very least, can we have some cute maternity clothes? The maternity outfits in TS2 and TS3 are beyond hideous!

Do you even play sims with cc?

Some. It depends…it really messes up the game so I try to limit how much I use. I don’t use any cc that changes the appearance of my Sims, just gameplay.

What's ur fav thing bout sims 4?

I love that they are going back to the roots of The Sims. I’ve played since TS1 came out, and I definitely miss the charm and fluidity of the game!

Whose Marion? I want to see the crowd demo thing

She is the Technical Animation Director on TS4. There is no video of the animations class yet.

No height sliders? Does that mean there won't be the option to change their height, or just that it will be done like the weight, but clicking and pulling?

There is no way to change a Sim’s height in TS4. None at all. All Sims of the same age group will be the same exact height. It is impossible to have Sims or varying heights with the current animation technology.

TS4 Animation Info Compilation
  • Sims no longer pause in-between animations. They can run to a chair and sit on it without pausing to stop running, turn, and sit.
  • Awareness of other Sims -  Sims will turn their heads and their upper body during conversations.
  • Facial expressions and some mouth movement add to the more natural animations.
  • Sims will be able to do animations in a variety of positions. Examples:  Can tell stories (and scary stories) while they’re sitting or standing. Can also read while sitting or standing.
  • You can eat on a bed if there are no chairs.
  • Two Sims can sit on the bed and talk (different sides, facing away from each other).
  • Sims in crowded spaces will maneuver around each other to sit, walk through doorways etc.  There shouldn’t be anymore walking outside, around the house and through the back door to get somewhere; Sims will go around each other.
  • Sims can pass each other on stairs.
  • Sims can form groups of up to 5 or 6 Sims — the number may change. Sims will react to other Sims which includes making room for a sim approaching a group and closing the circle when a Sim leaves.
  • Sims can hold a plate, drink and talk while standing around at a party. If they’re eating the glass will disappear to be replaced by a fork and vise versa.
  • Walk styles and voices can change depending on emotions.
  • To show off the improvements of routing Marion showed us about 100 Sims gathered in a circle outside. With one click, they all dispersed into different directions, without a single issue. She also showed us the same animation with the same Sims exiting the demo house through one narrow door. Not a single Sim was stuck, and the game did not cancel their actions.
  • Hair is not animated and will not grow.
  • No height sliders.

I'm pretty sure they had a reason for removing cast but couldn't they give us a color wheel? That can't be too hard right

They did give us a color wheel!

About the question of CAST in The Sims 4... The CAST in The Sims 3 was (and is still) the greatest source of bugs in the game. It will be good if EA gets rid of CAST in game and make it as an separeted tool called "The Sims 4 Create A Style". Remember The Sims Creator? Well this should be something similar to that. It should take the objects from the game and create a styles that should appear as a recoulor for that object in the game. I would also love to have some sort of logo maker. Thoughts?

Sounds like a great idea!

I visit this blog everyday!Do you think they will change the hair by the time of release, it's so blocky, and agh, because once they release pictures they usually don't change stuff, and what do you think of hair you've seen so far?

In certain situations, it looks good. It kind of fits the cartoonish nature of the Sims. However, up close, it is very low quality. I do think that they will increase the quality of the hair, or at least the textures.
