Does the Sims 4 have a place in time, like the Sims 3 taking place 25 years before the Sims 2?
The timeline will be similar to The Sims 1, judging by the ages of Bella and Mortimer. The Sims 2 took place 25 years later, when Mortimer was an elder, and The Sims 3 took place when Bella and Mortimer were children. The Sims 4 could take place slightly before TS1, perhaps before Bella and Mortimer have had children. No one knows for sure yet. It looks like Bella is a young adult, and Mortimer is an adult (look at those wrinkles!)
According to EA’s Q4 Fiscal Year Results, The Sims 4 is slated for release by the second quarter of EA’s 2015 fiscal year, from July to September 2014. Since EA has already announced a Fall 2014 release, we should expect the game by late September!
No date has been given for a Mac release. It seems likely at this point that the Mac version will come out after September, hopefully by the end of the year.
Fun fact: The Sims 4 was officially announced one year ago, today!
sorry if this ask is a repeat! can you explain why you think the E3 press conference will be a "tidal wave" of new info? I hope this question doesn't sound rude. it's just, EA has gotten my/our hopes up so many times regarding new info. how sure are we that this will be worth the wait? I know i am and have been dying to know more about pregnancy/life stages/ etc. thank you!!!!!
You aren’t being rude at all! The thing is, we have gotten our hopes up because we have assumed that EA would be sharing more info on The Sims 4 at big gaming events…even though EA never actually promised to do so.
However, it has been officially confirmed that TS4 will appear at E3. The event has traditionally been a huge venue for EA to reveal news and demos for The Sims. The timing also works perfectly, since we haven’t gotten news in almost a year and the game is set for a fall release.
I would hire 2-3 content creators. The other positions don’t have a limit. I would be very happy hiring graphic designers, app developers, website designers…etc. Anyone that can help keep Sims4News running or help to improve/expand Sims4News is welcome to join the team!
ew...honeywellsims4news is being so passive-agressive right now in a post about you. why are they always so dramatic? probably because they have half as many followers l o l
Haha thanks, I responded to the post! And it’s alright, I do need to be held accountable for the things I post. A lot of people look at Sims4News for info, and clearly what I post has an effect on the media coverage of TS4, even outside of Tumblr! I’m just glad I got to clear up the situation and say my piece :)
Although this is a fairly old render I don’t think I’ve actually seen anyone point out that this lovely couple appear to be adult sims, as opposed to the young adults we’ve seen so far. It could easily just be the way they’ve been styled but they look altogether more distinguished than the other sims we’ve seen.
What do you think? Clever styling or our first look at a different age group?
EA is surveying players about a potential annual subscription service. If you pay $100, you get ALL of the content released throughout the year for free, including expansion packs, stuff packs, and store content.
What do you guys think about this idea? Would you be comfortable paying $100 a year?
I personally love this idea! I would rather pay upfront and get a complete game then having to deal with silly (and, frankly, overpriced) DLC.
The following message was posted online by Lucy Bradshaw, the senior vice president of EA Maxis:
It is with a heavy heart today that EA and Maxis are announcing that ‘The Sims 4′ has ceased development. It’s never an easy decision to do something like this and on behalf of the development team I would like to thank you for all of your support. The Sims is, and will always be, about you – the community.
We will be evaluating the future of The Sims franchise to see what exciting experiences we can bring you in the future.
Lucy Bradshaw SVP, EA Maxis
Following this news, a press release was posted on EA.com detailing a spin-off game for The Sims franchise. A ‘Freezer Bunny’ game has been announced and a majority of The Sims 4 development team will be transferred to development of this game.
Freezer Bunny is a pink cartoony rabbit from The Sims 2 and appeared at the back of community lot freezers.
Maxis has described this new game as a ‘free to play’ mobile game that’ll take Freezer Bunny to unimaginable places in Katy Perry’s Candyfornia. The game will also feature an always-online world, which has been extremely popular game feature over the past year, compatibility with the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset and forced in-app purchases.
Thanks to BeyondSims for the news. As for Sims4News…it looks like this is our last post. It’s been real, guys.
Clearly the majority of people are either strongly for or strongly against the art/graphics style change in ts4. But I feel like, if you liked ts2, play that. If you liked ts3, play that. If ts4 comes out and you're still not satisfied, wait for the fifth installment. There is no way for ea to meet everybody's desires for the game. At least they're trying. I'm just fucking happy there's a 4th installment coming out to a game that I've loved for years. P.s. You look like a Disney prince. ;)
In all honesty, I love the direction TS4 has taken as to how the Sims look. TS3 was getting dangerously close to the uncanny valley, and while it was relatively to make your sims look good, a certain amount of aesthetic appeal was lost in TS3, I think. Sure, 4 is more cartoony but it looks sleeker and more attractive in my eyes because it obviously isn't trying so hard to be creepily lifelike. I love the Sims 4 style!
I like TS2 better than TS3 (while TS3 had arguably better character customization, TS2 didn't lag as much and had more interesting gameplay) and it's looking like I still might like TS2 better than TS4. TS4 seems cool so far and I kind of like the new art style but I was hoping on them leaving in the good features from TS3 while including the good features from TS2 but it looks like they're taking away most of the good features from both of them.
I understand, but we honestly know very, very little about TS4 thus far. One couldn’t possibly make a claim about TS4’s features…we just don’t know enough about the game to judge it yet.
Thank you for posting all this info on sims 4, it is giving me more and more reasons not to buy that pathetic mess of a game. Taking away creativity options on top of looking so cartoony is just stupid on EA's part.
I personally love the cartoony look (it reminds me of TS1 and TS2!) but I agree that EA is…not such a great company. lol
