Q:I think the hair issue is because the style is more cartoonish, they're channeling the aesthetic of TS1 and bringing it forward into 2014. Also they want the game to have lower system requirements so it's available to more people, and I remember this blog mentioning that the hair is one of the most complex parts to animate. Maybe the simpler hair isn't such a bad thing?

I definitely understand why the hair is simple and cartoony. I actually love the style of TS4! I just think that the hair is a bit too low quality and does not match with the well-lit and textured Sims. While cartoony, the Sim’s faces are still expressive and complex; the hair looks like a helmet by comparison. It just doesn’t work together. The Sims are so natural looking! They need hair that doesn’t look like plastic fitted to their skull, in my opinion.
