The Sims 4 Subscription: Rumor & Baseless Speculation
There’s been a lot of discussion in the community the last few weeks regarding a subscription option for the Sims 4 based off of a post made by Sims4News. That post is now gaining legitimacy as other gaming sites repeat the same misinformation in articles like, Sims 4 to include a Premium Plan and paid DLCs.
This wasn’t true two weeks ago and it isn’t true now.
EA is surveying players about a potential annual subscription service. If you pay $100, you get ALL of the content released throughout the year for free, including expansion packs, stuff packs, and store content. —Sims4News
THE SURVEY listed different combinations of content bundled together and given a discounted price. There was no mention of a subscription fee, no pay $100 and get everything for the year and no “premium plans”. It was a straightforward “get this, this and this bundled together for this discounted price”.
That’s it. Nothing more.
I didn’t just make this up to start rumors, I got the information from this website. Clearly, the website presented speculation about the subscription service as fact, but that’s not my fault. I also didn’t present it as fact in my post…I made it clear that it was an idea.
I’m sorry that I accidentally circulated speculation and it turned into a big rumor, but that happens in a news drought. We know very little about TS4 thus far, so a lot of the news we have now is speculative. I’m sure we’ll know more concrete news in June.
